IEMT Integral Eye Movement Therapy

Integral Eye Movement Therapy (IEMT) is a brief therapy that uses simple eye movements and questioning techniques to change problematic thought patterns, behaviours and feelings.

IEMT techniques help to create change by rapidly reducing unwanted feelings to help you to resolve issues. Moving the eyes in certain ways appears to link to the part of the brain that stores our memories and emotions, resulting in rapid relief from painful feelings associated with memories.

IEMT can also show you why you may repeat unwanted behaviours and how to deal with this without the need for digging into the past.

Unlike many psychological therapeutic processes, IEMT does not require you to disclose details about your experience or give details about troublesome events. Your experiences can remain private.

IEMT and EMDR

IEMT is not the same as EMDR, although both therapies use eye movements. IEMT is a faster technique, developed by Andrew T. Austin, and as well as addressing trauma and PTSD, can also address unhelpful patterns of behaviour, imprints of emotion and imprints of identity which have been holding clients back from making the changes that they want.
